THE JOHN AND SOPHIE OTTENS FOUNDATION AWARDS $49,000 TO COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY'S Native American Cultural Center

Fort Collins - An Arizona foundation focuses on the recruitment and retention of Native American students at Colorado State University with a generous gift to Native American Cultural Center (NACC). The John and Sophie Ottens Foundation has made a $49,000 commitment to support NACC's programs for the 2007-2008 school year. The commitment will support the costs of NACC tutoring and mentoring programs, a fall leadership retreat, and two spring break outreach programs, occurring in 2008 and 2009. Additional funds will be used to support the building and sustaining of the Native American Cultural Center library and computer lab. "We are proud and honored that the John & Sophie Ottens Foundation has chosen to support our Native American Cultural Center office here at Colorado State University." NACC director, Ty Smith says. "This gift is crucial for us in order to enhance and promote our office's programs and services."

The John and Sophie Ottens Foundation has made a $39,000 commitment to support NACC's programs for the 2009-2010 school year. Over the past three years the John and Sophie Ottens Foundation has generously contributed over $100,000 to the Native American Cultural Center office.
